Crawford County Library Services

Crawford County Library offers a full array of modern library services. Beyond a great print collection, enjoy DVDs, CD books, computer access, high speed wi-fi throughout each branch building, and much more. All residents of Crawford County are eligible for a Crawford County Library card, giving you additional access to our digital collections and our amazing web-based information sources from your home, office or around the globe – wherever you might need us.

To be eligible for a Crawford County Library card, you must live, work, attend school, or be a property owner in Crawford County. There is no minimum age to get a card, but those 17 and under must have a parent or legal guardian sign the application form, with the understanding that they are responsible for the use of their child's card. Your first card is free, but a replacement for a lost or damaged card costs $2.00.

Both Crawford County Library branches offer a variety of items for checkout including:
Nonfiction, Fiction, Children’s, Young Adult, DVDs, CD Books, and Downloadable eBooks, Audiobooks, Magazines, and Videos.

  • Most items check out for 4 weeks, except
  • New releases for 2 weeks
  • DVDs and magazines for 1 week
  • Downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines for 2 weeks
  • Downloadable videos for 2 days

There is a checkout limit of 2 new release books at any one time, 5 DVDs at any one time, and an overall limit of 10 items. These limits may be modified with director's approval.
In addition, 6 downloadable items may be checked out, plus any downloadable items allowed through our partner libraries.

Use your library card to download
ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and videos!

We have gone fine free, with some exceptions such as board games, hot spots, e-readers, and MeL/interlibrary loans. Lost items are charged full replacement cost.

In general, checkouts may be renewed twice either by phone, in person, or online with a library card barcode and PIN, unless reserved for another patron. Interlibrary loans may be subject to different rules.

*Crawford County Library policy prohibits anyone from using another patron's library card for any service, Please remember to bring your card or ID. Patron information must be updated once per year.

Interlibrary Loans

Crawford County Library participates in the statewide borrowing system established by the Library of Michigan.  We make every effort to locate items not currently on our shelves and have them sent to your preferred library branch. Call, stop in, or click the Online Catalog link to place holds. You will be notified via phone, email, or text when your item is available for pick up. Please reserve items from this catalog before checking the Michigan eLibrary for availability.

MeL is the Michigan eLibrary, a 24/7 online library for Michigan residents.
~ MeL.org databases allow instant access to full-text articles, practice tests, tutorials, and other incredible
resources for children and adults.
~ MeLCat (Catalog) allows patrons to order books, audios, music, and movies from across the state to be
conveniently delivered to your home library. These items must be renewed at MeL.org.
